Term 1 - Week 1 - Introduction to Pathology


Aims and Objectives

Aim of Year 4 is to understand "patient" & his/her "disease" i.e. Clinical Skills & Pathology.

Major Objectives:

 

"Clinical examination & Pathology of common/key diseases in each system"

History taking, Physical examination, investigations, differential diagnoses.

Etiology, Pathogenesis, Morphology (Gross & Microscopy), Clinical features & Complications.


Typical CPC Week Structure: (DD=Differential Diagnosis)

Day-1: Patient scenario by tutor: History taking -DD, examination-DD, Investigations-DD, likely diagnosis

Day-2: Self study of all "DD" clinical and pathology (Medicine & Pathology).

Day-3: Pathology Lecture on the topic.+ Self study.

Day-4: GLS (Lab Practicals) - Gross specimens & Microscopy + Self study.

Day-5: Synthesis (tutor) - Additional Scenarios + KFP Questions + Online quiz.

Day-6: Reflection, repair & recovery.

Day-7: Relax / repair & recovery)...!
